It wasn't pretty. But it was a win.
Baker ran its season winning streak to 10 games Tuesday with a 10-5 non-league baseball win at Burns.
"It was ugly," said Baker coach Dan Blankenship. "We have to do a better job of showing up to play baseball. But we got the win."
Baker actually trailed 5-4 after four innings.
The Bulldogs opened the first inning with three runs. Dekker Smith's two-run triple, and an RBI single by Trace Richardson did the damage.
Then, after Burns tied the game in the bottom of the inning, Baker took a 4-3 lead in the second. Derek Blankenship's sacrifice fly scored Ty Everson.
Burns scored single runs in the third and fourth to take a 5-4 edge.
Baker then answered with five runs in the fifth. Jordan Harlow drove in two runs with a bases-loaded single. A third run scored on a Burns error. Richardson plated Harlow with a triple. Richardson then scored on a single by Alex Clark.
Richardson added an RBI groundout in the seventh to end the scoring.
Harlow threw the first four innings to gain the win. Smith threw the final three innings. The duo gave up just four hits, but walked nine Hilanders.
Baker (10-1 overall and 2-0 in the Greater Oregon League) returns to GOL action at La Grande Friday.
