Day 1 District 7-1A boys tourney

Imbler and Cove rolled to easy wins Thursday in the opening round of the District 7-1A boys basketball tournament at Baker High School.

Imbler stopped Pine-Eagle 58-36, and Cove defeated Joseph 68-38.

Imbler plays Wallowa at 2:15 p.m. today, and Cove meets Powder Valley at 8:15 p.m.

Imbler 58, Pine-Eagle 36

Imbler kicked its running game into high gear and used a full-court defense to burst out to a 14-0 lead against Pine-Eagle.

Ian McLean led the way with 10 points. He finished the first period with 15 points as the Panthers built a 25-6 lead.

Imbler led 35-15 at halftime. The Panthers outrebounded Pine-Eagle 25-16, including 18 offensive boards. Pine-Eagle committed 18 first-half turnovers, to just eight for Imbler.

Josh Deen sparked Pine-Eagle with the first five points of the second half, but Imbler coasted the rest of the way.

McLean finished with 17 points.

Alex Stiles and Joe Aker led Pine-Eagle with 13 points each. Aker added 14 rebounds.

Cove 68, Joseph 38

Cove had three players in double figures in the romp.

Austin Woodward led the way with 16 points. Scott DelCurto and Landen Reddington each added 10 points.

Anthony Smallen topped Joseph with 12 points.
