Porter, Constantine place

PORTLAND - Baker wrestlers Andrew Porter and Anthony Constantine placed in their respective weight classes Saturday at the Class 4A state tournament at Memorial Coliseum.

Porter placed fourth at 125 pounds.

"Andrew went out on top," said Baker coach Brandon Young.

"Every year he has improved at the state meet."

Porter was a district champion as a freshman, seventh at state as a sophomore, sixth at state last year, and fourth this year.

Porter's first win at the state tournament this year also gave him the Baker school record for wins. Porter finished his career with 132 wins.

Seeded second, Porter pinned Colton Holly of Sweet Home in the third round of his opening match. Porter then lost 12-2 to Trevor Anderson of Mazama.

In consolation action, Porter pinned Dawson Barber of Crook County in the second round, then pinned Philomath's Zach Leonard in the first round. In the consolation semi-finals, Porter earned a first-round pin of top-seeded Shane Licari of Estacada.

Porter then lost 13-0 to third-seeded Adam Hayner of Molalla in the third-place match.

Constantine, top seeded at 145 pounds, won his first match by first-round pin over Austin Keller of Molalla.

Constantine then lost 9-8 to Guy Russell of South UMpqua in the quarterfinals.

In consolation action, Constantine defeated Braden Woodbury of Crook County 1-0, then topped Tucker Cook of Tillamook 8-3.

In the consolation semi-finals, Constantine lost 5-2 to Aaron David of Henley. Then, in the fifth-place match, Constantine lost 4-2 to Jared George of Crook County.

Josh Valentine lost his first two matches at 112 and was eliminated.

Valentine lost his opener by first-round fall to top-seed Colton Schilling of Sweet Home.

In consolation action, Valentine lost 10-0 to Bee Nguyen of Klamath Union.

Baker finished 23rd in the team standings with 29 points. Henley won the team title with 172 points.
