Baker rodeo team opens season

EUGENE - Baker high school rodeo riders kicked off their spring season Feb. 25-27 at a rodeo in Eugene.

Nick Xeros of Baker City teamed with Kyler Talburt of Powell Butte to claim the team roping average champion header and heeler.

Xeros and Talburt placed fourth in team roping with a time of 10.47 seconds in the first rodeo at Eugene.

Johnny Owens of Baker placed second in bull riding with a score of 71.

Xeros teamed with Landon Heryford of Burns to place second in team roping at the second rodeo with a time of 8.63 seconds.

Xeros and Talburt were fourth with a time of 10.03 seconds. Mike McGinn of Haines and Will Huldenof Union were fifth with a time of 12.41 seconds.

Owens lead all high school riders in Oregon in bul riding thruogh March 1.

McGinn is third in steer wrestling and 12th in team roping.

Xeros is eighth in team roping.
