The Powder Valley boys basketball team begins its post-Trenton Dixion play this season.

Dixon, one of th etop Class 1A players in the state for four seasons, is now a freshman at Pacific University at Forest Grove.

"Trenton will be a big loss," said Powder coach Kyle Dixon.

"We will need to work on that, but these kids have been looking good. I think we'll surprise some people."

Peter Colton, Levi Allen and Noe Benites are returning starters from a year. Allen, however has an injured knee and probably won't return until league play starts in January.

"Noe's been looking good," Dixon said. "His knees bothered him last year, but they're OK now."

Quincy Stephens, Marcus Pratt, Brock Jones and Tyler Clark are other key players this season.

"We're a young team, but these are good kids who are really interested in basketball," Dixon said.

"Most of them have been in the gym all summer long. Our quickness will be a strength.

"It will be a little different without Trenton, but I think we're better as a team than last year," Dixon said.

"We'll be more of a passing team. We're small, but quick."
