Pine-Eagle girls basketball preview

By Gerry Steele, The Baker City Herald

Pine-Eagle girls basketball coach Roger Gulick is excited about the new season.

The Spartans lost just one player to graduation from the team that lost in the Old Oregon League third-place game a year ago.

Gulick said he has 16 players out this season.

"I think we'll be pretty tough," he said.

"We're probably a month into the season as far as preparation," Gulick said because of the teams' experience with his system.

"Everything's in place," he said.

Seniors returning are Chelsie Gulick, Elise Terjeson, Sam Simrell, Shelby Thompson and Sara Wilson.

Juniors are Lena Carr, Bri Thatcher, Maddie Thatcher and Holly Davis.

Sophomores are Sierra Saunders, Katelyn Whybark and Jamie Butler.

Freshman are Hatli Kuta, Mariana Akers, Celisa Digges and Jamie Pallan.

"We can slow it down and play big ball, and we can run," Gulick said.

"We're well rounded. We're looking forward to a good run."
