Bulldogs lose at Weiser

By Gerry Steele, The Baker City Herald

Poor rebounding and inconsistent shooting spelled a 59-46 defeat for Baker in a non-league boys basketball game at Weiser Friday.

Weiser held a 34-26 rebounding edge. And, 16 of those boards came on the offensive backboard.

"They had 16 offensive rebounds, and at least 10 of those went for pit backs," said Baker coach Joel Richardson. "We did not rebound very well on the defensive end of the floor."

Richardson said another key was that Baker managed to take only 32 shots in the game. The Bulldogs made 13 of those shots.

"Getting only 32 shots is very uncharacteristic of this team,," Richardson said.

"We have to be more consistent. We just have to do a better job of being more mentally tough and more physically tough."

Dillon Blankenship led Baker with 26 points. But only three other Bulldogs scored, none more than nine points.

Baker travels to Payette, Idaho, Thursday.
