Baker led from start to finish at Ontario Tuesday, stopping the Tigers 56-49 in a Greater Oregon League boys basketball game.

The defending GOL-champion Bulldogs (3-0 in the GOL) have not lost a league game since the 2009-10 season.

"We didn't play our best offensive ballgame," said Baker coach Joel Richardson. "But we did a good job of holding Ontario's rally down when we had to."

Richardson said many of the Bulldogs are either battling illness or just getting over illness.

"I thought th eguys did a nice job of playing with various kinds of illness," Richardson said.

Tuesday, Jordan Curtis scored the first five points of the game and Baker never looked back.

Curtis and Dillon Blankenship each scored five points in the first quarter as the Bulldogs forged a 13-4 advantage.

Blankenship and Braden Phillips each added six points in the second quarter as the Bulldogs increased their lead to 30-21 at halftime.

Leading 27-21, Blankenship was fouled on a desparation three-point try at the halftime buzzer. The Baker junior calmly hit all three free throws to give Baker a 9-point halftime cushion.

Blankenship, who finished the game with 22 points, then added eight third-quarter points, and Phillips six as Baker led 44-34. Included in those numbers was 10-0 Baker run midway through the third period. Ontario then answered with a 9-0 run of its own to end the period.

Ontario managed to cut Baker's lead to seven points a couople of times in the fourth quarter, but each time Baker answered.

Curtis joined Blankenship in double figures with 15 points, nine rebounds and four assists. Phillips added 14 points, and Colten Richards eight rebounds.
