Baker girls get GOL win

Baker picked up its first Greater Oregon League girls basketball win of the season Friday, stopping Mac-Hi 48-24 on the Baker floor.

Baker (1-2 in the GOL) used four points from Michelle Freese and three from Allie Brown to build a 10-5 lead after one quarter.

Baker then doubled that margin in the second period to take a 20-10 halftime advantage.

Baker then had one of its best scoring quarters in the third period, outdistancing the Pioneers 22-6.

Mac-Hi did not score until just 1:33 remained in the quarter.

Meanwhile, Freese and freshman Brie Sand each scored six points for Baker. Seven Bulldogs scored in the period.

Neither team scored much in the fourth quarter which ended with Mac-Hi holding an 8-6 edge.

Sand led Baker with 12 points. Freese added 10.

Baker hosts Ontario Tuesday, then travels to La Grande Friday.

Three-point baskets - Fite 2, Brown. Fouled out - none. Total fouls - Mac-Hi 15, Baker 17. Technicals - none.
