La Grande routs Baker girls

Fifth-ranked La Grande scored more in each quarter than Baker scored in its first three quarters Friday in a Greater Oregon League girls basketball game at La Grande.

La Grande went on to defeat the Bulldogs 60-22.

Baker scored just 11 points in the first 24 minutes.

The Bulldogs trailed 12-1 after one period, and 26-8 at halftime.

Michelle Birkmaier's three-point basket with 5:30 left in the first half was Baker's only basket in the half.

The Bulldogs finished the game with just four field goals, three by Birkmaier who finished with eight points.

Baker (2-11 overall and 1-4 in the GOL) travels to Nyssa for a nonleague game Tuesday. The Bulldogs then host Mac-Hi Friday in GOL action.
