Baker evened its nonleague baseball record at 1-1 Monday with a 10-1 thumping of Scappoose at the Baker Sports Complex.
Scappoose (4-6) arrived in Baker City after losing two games at Ontario and sweeping two games from La Grande.
Baker, which lost earlier to Weiser, played much better, according to coach Dan Blankenship.
"We swung the bats well, and ran the bases much better," Blankenship said.
"The kids have put a lot of time into getting better after the Weiser game."
After spotting Scappoose a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, Baker took the lead for good with two runs in the bottom of the inning.
Darren Dolby opened the inning with a single and later scored when Scappoose threw the ball away on Dillon Blankenship's grounder. Blankenship later scored the second run on another error.
The Bulldogs added four runs in the third inning, banging out six hits.
Blankenship laced a one-out single and advanced to third on a Kody Younger single. Blankenship scored on a balk. Younger scored on a single from Caleb Custer.
Then, after Chace Dixon singled, both runners scored on a single by Dan Stinson.
Baker increased its lead to 7-1 in the fourth when Blankenship singled and later scored on another error.
The Bulldogs closed out the scoring with three runs in the sixth.
Singles by Stephen Schott and Dolby, and Mason Cline getting hit by a pitch, loaded the bases.
Blankenship plated one run with a sacrifice fly. Then after Younger was hit by a pitch to reload the bases, Keaton Bachman doubled home a pair of runs.
Younger threw the first six innings for the win, allowing six hits. He struck out nine and walked one.
"Kody Younger threw a good game for us," Blankenship said.
Dillon Blankenship, playing his first game of the season after being out due to illness, pitched a shaky seventh. He hit two batters and walked another, but did not allow a run.
"We wanted to get Dillon an inning," Coach Blankenship said.
"He told me before he went out he wasn't sure about it, but he did OK."

Baker's bats continued to be hot Tuesday against Scappoose.
For the second straight game the Bulldogs (2-1) hammered 11 hits, scoring in every inning on the way to beating the Indians 9-1 at the Baker Sports Complex.
The win was Baker's second in two days against Scappoose (4-7).
Kody Younger led Baker with two hits, including a double, and three RBIs.
Stephen Schott and Keaton Bachman each added a pair of hits.
"Just like yesterday the kids hit the ball well, and ran the bases well," said Baker coach Dan Blankenship.
"Again, give the kids credit for getting out there and executing on the field."
Caleb Custer picked up the win on the mound, allowing just three hits in six innings. Mason Cline allowed one hit in a scoreless seventh.
"For the second straight day our starting pitcher had a really quality outing," Blankenship said. "He had command of all his pitches.
"And our catcher (Micah Mespelt) didn't allow a stolen base in either game. That's always big too."
Younger got Baker on the board in the bottom of the first when his RBI double scored Dillon Blankenship, who was aboard on a fielder's choice.
Then, with the game knotted at 1-1, Baker took the lead for good with a single run in the bottom of the second inning.
Mespelt scored the go-ahead run with the bases loaded when he scored on a wild pitch.
Custer added an RBI single in the third inning. A second run scored on an error to boost Baker up 4-1.
Blankenship added a run-scoring single in the fourth.
Younger's two-run single and two Scappoose errors accounted for three runs in the fifth.
Darren Dolby's RBI double completed the scoring in the sixth.
Baker travels to Weiser Saturday for a single game, then hits the road to Pendleton Monday for another single contest.
