Baker just can't seem to put a complete game together this season.
The Bulldogs played well for a while in their Greater Oregon League baseball doubleheader at Ontario Saturday, but not well enough.
Ontario ran its GOL record to 8-0 by sweeping the Bulldogs 7-3 and 10-4. Baker's GOL mark dropped to 1-7.
"We're not opportunistic right now, and we need to be," said Baker coach Dan Blankenship.
"Both of our starting pitchers threw pretty well. We just neded to make some more plays behind them, and we didn't."
In the first game, at least half of Ontario's runs were unearned.
Caleb Custer was Baker's starting pitcher, allowing just five hits. But Custer also hit five Ontario batters and walked seven.
Baker scored single runs in the first, third and sixth innings.
In the first, Dillon Blankenship doubled and later scored on Kody Younger's sacrifice fly.
In the third, Mason Cline, Younger and Keaton Bachman singled. Bachman's hit scored Cline.
In the sixth, Blankenship walked and stole second. He scored on a single by Custer.
In Game 2, Baker trailed 5-4 entering the bottom of the fifth. Ontario then scored five times to break the game open.
Baker scored two runs in the third and two more in the fifth.
In the third, Younger walked and Custer singled. Darren Dolby singled home the first run, and Chace Dixon the second.
In the fifth, Cline walked and rode home on Younger's two-run home run.
Baker is now idle until Saturday when the Bulldogs travel to Mac-Hi for another GOL twinbill.
