Baker ended two streaks Saturday by sweeping Mac-Hi in a Greater Oregon League baseball doubleheader at Milton-Freewater.

Baker swept the Pioneers 5-2 and 8-3.

The Bulldogs ended a 6-game overall losing streak, and a 5-game GOL losing steak with the sweep.

"The boys played well today," said Baker coach Dan Blankenship.

"We finally got a couple of W's. We really needed them.

"The kids were playing to win today. That was nice to see," Blankenship said. "The kids needed these wins."

Game 1 was tied 2-2 entering the seventh inning. Then, Baker scored three runs to gain the win.

In the seventh, Dillon Blankenship drew a one-out walk and stole second. Kody Younger reached base on an error and Caleb Custer on a fielder's choice.

Blankenship and Younger scored on a single by Stephen Schott. Custer scored on a Chace Dixon base hit.

Baker had scored single runs in the second and third innings.

In the second, Custer was hit by a pitch and eventually scored on a passed ball.

In the third, Mason Cline rapped a solo home run.

Cline finished the game with three hits, and Schott two.

Younger picked up the win on the mound, allowing five hits and striking out six.

In the second game, Baker scored a run in the first inning and never looked back.

In the first Blankenship singled and stole second and third. He scored on a Younger double.

The Bulldogs added three runs in the third inning.

With one out, walks to Darren Dolby and Blankenship sandwiched around a Mac-Hi error loaded the bases.

Custer was then hit by a pitch to score one run. Schott and Dan Stinson then each drew bases-loaded walks to score the other two runs.

Baker added two runs in both the fourth and sixth innings.

In the fourth, Micah Mespelt singled and later scred on a Cline sacrifice fly. Blankenship then doubled and scored on a Younger single.

In the sixth, Cline singled and stole second. Blankenship then delivered an RBI single. He later scored on a run-scoring single from Schott.

Custer picked up the win, throwing a complete-game eight-hitter. He struck out five.

Schott and Blankenship each finished with three hits.

Baker closes out its GOL season Friday, hosting La Grande in a doubleheader at the Baker Sports Complex, starting at 2 p.m.
