Baker all-stars lose heartbreaker championship game

By Jayson Jacoby / The Baker City Herald

Baker's 11- and 12-year-old Little League baseball all-stars lose a heartbreaking championship game to Pendleton in the district tournament Wednesday at Wade Williams Field in Baker City.

Baker, the visiting team, trailed Pendleton 3-1 entering the top of the sixth inning.

Baker scored one run to get within 3-2.

Pendleton ended the game with a double play that easily could have given Baker the tying run.

Morgan Bennett advanced to third base with one one. Jackson Rohner hit a line drive to center fielder. The center fielder not only made the catch, but he threw a strike to home to get Bennett for the final out.

Pendleton's 10- and 11-year-old team also won the district title by beating Baker 15-1 in four innings on Wednesday.
