email@example.com REDMOND - Baker's first visit to Ridgeview High School at Redmond was memorable - like a bad nightmare.
The game got started almost a half-hour late due to the junior varsity game running long earlier in the day.
The national anthem wasn't performed until the break between the first and second quarters.
And, the teams had to deal with an approximate 15-minute delay seconds into the fourth quarter when most of the lights on one side of the field went out.
Those distractions, plus a sputtering offense and a defense that gave up several big plays spelled a 30-0 defeat for the defending Class 4A state champion Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs, starting fresh after graduating the bulk of last year's title team, couldn't find their offensive rythm most of the game.
Baker's best scoring opportunity came early in the second period, driving to the Ravens' 2.
Taking over near midfield, the Bulldogs used a roughing the passer penalty and a pass interference penalty to help get to the Ridgeview 5.
On first down quarterback Thomas Hamilton gained three yards to the 2. A 3-yard loss and a 5-yard penalty then pushed the Bulldogs back to the 10.
Hamilton-s third-down pass then fell incomplete. The Bulldogs then elected to go for it on fourth down. A low snap threw the timing off and Hamilton was sacked for a 9-yard loss, turning the ball over to the Ravens.
Ridgeview, already leading 8-0, then needed just four plays to increase its lead to 16-0.
Ridgeview quarterback Jacob Johnson fund Tanner O'Neal at the Baker 30. O'Neal outleaped a Baker safety, made the catch and raced 30 yards to complete the 67-yard scoring play.
Then, after forcing a Baker punt, Johnson found Jack Bowman in the back of the end zone for a 24-yard touchdown, increasing the Ravens' lead to 24-0 at halftime.
That's where the score remained through much of the second half.
The Bulldogs' Lukas Huggins intercepted a Ravens pass seconds into the fourth quarter, giving Baker a first down on the Ridgeview 32.
That's when the lights went out - literally.
After the delay, Baker drove to the Ridgeview 16 only to fumble the ball away
Baker finished the game with just 107 yards, 31 on the ground.
Ridgeview totaled 396 yards, 276 rushing.
