JORDAN VALLEY - Pine-Eagle opened its nonleague volleyball season Friday with a 25-21, 18-25, 25-12, 25-17 victory over Jordan Valley.

"The girls played well for their first outing," said Pine-Eagle coach Jenny Gulick.

"They showed a lot of hustle and agrressiveness."

Jamie Butler quarterbacked the Spartans offense with 21 assists, six ace serves and two digs.

Sierra Saunders added seven kills, a block and an assist.

Hayli Kuta had eight kills, two blocks and four ace serves; Celisa Digges four kills and seven ace serves; Jami Pallan two digs and an ace serve; Lacey Walker two kills and four ace serves; and Hannah Tanaka four kills, two ace serves, a block and a dig.

Sarah Cooley also saw limited time off the bench.

"I definitely saw some things we will focus on in practice this week, but all in all I am pleased with what I saw in their first match," Gulick said.

The Spartans host Huntington Friday before playing in the Prairie City tournament Saturday.
