Baker boys soccer coach Victor Benites is looking to continue to build on last year's success.

And, although the Bulldogs lost almost their entire defensive group, Benites is counting on that area to be a strength this season.

"We lost almost all of our defenders from last season, but I think we'll be OK there this year," Benites said.

"We've got plenty of midfielders and forwards. We're trying to work on our passing offense."

Benites welcomed 27 players out for early practices, incluidng seven returning from a year ago.

Seniors Riley Carter and Jason Benites, and juniors Stephen Schott, Matt Barnes, Hordan Flanagan, Zac Tomac and keeper Levi Mansuetti return.

Benites said the Greater Oregon League should be up for grabs looking toward the playoffs.
