VALE - A handful of miscues late in the game cost Baker in a 59-54 nonleague boys basketball loss at Vale Thursday.

"For our first game out I was not really disappointed," said Baker coach Joel Richardson.

"We were up three with a little more than three minutes left on the clock then had some poor possessions.

"We're still getting the feel of our offense and we had some foul trouble.

"Our shot selection was good at times, and not good at times," Richardson said.

"But I thought our guys left it on the floor. They played hard."

Mason Cline led Baker with 23 points and 11 rebounds.

Kyle Srack added eight points and seven boards, and Ben Baxter 10 points.

Baker (0-1) travels to Payette Saturday.
