Vale tops Baker girls

ELGIN - Baker dropped a nonleague girls basketball game to Vale 50-34 Friday at the Elgin tournament.

"Whoa! New team today. Big improvement from Thursday," said Baker coach Jenny Mowe-Joseph, referring to Baker's loss to Weiser on Thursday.

"The girls settled down and ran their offense," Mowe-Joseph said. "They did some really great things that I think will be the foundation of what we build on this season."

Michelle Freese led Baker with nine points, five rebounds and two steals.

Allie Brown had eight points, three rebounds and two steals.

Brie Sand finished wih six points, two rebounds, two assists and three blocked shots.

Whitney Lemmon had four points and three rebounds, and Emily Tatlock five points and four boards.
