What to expect from the Baker boys basketball team remains a mystery for Coach Joel Richardson as the Bulldogs get set to defend their Greater Oregon League championship.

Just two players - Ben Baxter and Mason Cline -return from last year's team.

The remaining varsity slots will be manned by players who saw the bulk of their playing time on the junior varsity last season.

Vying for playing time will be Kyle Srack, Clay LeaMaster, Aiden Hayes, Logan Scott, Taylor Gulick, Stephen Schott and Logan Sand.

"As far as our strengths at this point," Richardson said, "they're left untold at this point.

"These guys played a little bit together during the summer, but not everybody was there all the time."

Richardson said Baker's success will come down to how quickly they get use to each other.

"It will come down to how well we gel early," Richardson said.

"I love the way we've been working in practice. I love our speed.

"We'll have to play great defense. Our keys will be how well we grow on defense, and how well we gel offensively," the Baker coach said.

"The realistic expectations of ourselves is critical. Making the playoffs is our goal. We're still the GOL champion until someone takes it away from us."
