Baker's boys basketball team lost a pair of consolation games Friday and Saturday at the Sisters Holiday tournament.

The Bulldogs (2-9) fell 58-48 to Sisters Friday, then dropped a 60-55 game to Banks Saturday.

Despite the setbacks, Baker coach Joel Richardson found a sliver lining to the tournament play.

"It actually was a great tournament for us," Richardson said.

"They had a bunch of really good ballclubs. We're a young team, and we'll use it for a growing tool, a learning tool.

"We played much better our last two games," Richardson said.

"It's a growing process. I really liked the way we responded after taking a thumping from Philomath in our first game."

Against Sisters, Baker was outrebounded 43-26. Connor Schaab led Sisters with 21 points and 17 rebounds.

Still, Baker was within 51-42 midway through the fourth quarter. The Bulldogs then missed a par of seven free throw situations down the stretch.

"We had our chances to make a run," Richardson said.

The Bulldogs also sent Sisters to the free throw line 35 times, 25 in the fourth quarter.

Mason Cline led Baker with 15 points. Logan Sand added 14.

Against Banks, Baker led 46-38 entering the fourth quarter. Banks then got hot, outscoring the Bulldogs 22-9 in the final period.

"We were in it the whole way," Richardson said.

"We traded baskets back and fourth. We were up by 10 and then Banks got hot."

Cline again led the Bulldogs with 18 points and six rebounds.

Clay LeaMaster added 11 points and seven rebounds, and Aiden Hayes seven points and seven boards. Logan Scott added eight points.

Baker travels to Weiser Thursday then hosts Fruitland Saturday.
