Horizon Christian came up short for the second straight year in the Class 1A state boys basketball championship game.

The Hawks, who finished second a year ago, dropped a 68-49 game to Columbia Christian in Saturday's title game at Baker High School.

Luke Moody hit five three-point baskets in the first quarter to lift Columbia Christian to a 22-15 advantage.

Unlike Columbia Christian's first two opponents - Triangle Lake and Powder Valley - Horizon Christian stayed within range most of the game.

In fact, Horizon Christian took a 35-34 lead on Mason Bloomster's basket with 4:24 left in the third quarter.

The lead was short-lived however. Columbia Christian's Kameron Chatman hit a basket with 4:05 left in the period to give the Knights the lead for good.

Chatman led Columbia Christian with 21 points and nine rebounds.

Moody added 17 points, and Arkadiy Mkrtychyan 13 points.

Bloomster led Horizon Christian with 24 points.
