Bible makes it clear that Israel belongs to the Jews
The Bible is not a political anthology. It was never intended to be. However, there is one currently political subject that has Biblical roots going back some 5,000 years. The Bible is absolutely clear about the land of Israel. President Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as its capital and establishing an embassy there is as it ought to be.
While I don’t agree with everything the president has done, his actions regarding Israel reflect God’s direction and several thousand years’ history. The Bible is also clear there should be only one Israel. In the Old Testament books of Genesis and Exodus, God gives the land of Canaan (later Israel) to Abram and his descendants and repeats His granting the land to the Hebrews/Israelites (today’s Jews) after the exodus from Egypt. And it is very clearly stated that that the land is to be theirs forever. The land granting is referenced over 160 times in the Bible so there is a plethora of evidence. The boundaries are roughly the Red Sea-south, Mediterranean Sea-west, Euphrates River-north, and Jordan River-east.
The Biblical writings also indicate visitors were allowed to live among the Israelites but they had to conform to The Law (what we refer to today as Judaism). While I acknowledge that the Hebrews/Israelites/Jews haven’t controlled all of their land over time, it is still theirs because God said so. Other political leaders need to support Israel, Trump is on the right track here.
U.S. needs to choose compassion for all in 2018
Our United States cares for all its citizens. Children and seniors feel safe and have enough to eat. We enjoy clean air and water. Our roads and schools are well-maintained. Everyone has healthcare. Young adults have the option to attend college or trade school for free and become productive workers at jobs that pay a livable wage. Our public lands are open to all. When natural disasters and unexpected tragedies strike we reach out to help one another and rebuild together. Our United States stands on the side of compassion and equality where all are included and we share the great abundance of our land.
Our current United States is different. Congress and the president recently passed legislation to concentrate wealth in the hands of the few and dismantled programs that protect the health and well-being of the majority. Our current leaders promote distrust and alienation. The concerns of the people are ignored while the demands of big business are obeyed. The current leadership in the United States stands on the side of greed and promotes a sense of scarcity where citizens compete with one another to meet basic needs.
It doesn’t have to be this way. We live in the wealthiest country in the world. It is possible for all of us to have enough. We need leaders that recognize this fact and act in the best interest of all our citizens. In 2018 let’s choose compassion and vote to restore Our United States with life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness for all.
