After a briefly quiet start, Baker dominated La Grande Friday in a battle of Greater Oregon League unbeaten girls basketball teams.

Baker trailed 4-0 out of the gate, then scored the next 11 points on the way to defeating the Tigers 50-27 in the La Grande gym.

The win gives Baker, the Class 4A fourth-ranked girls team in the state, a 15-1 overall record, and a 3-0 GOL mark at the halfway point of the league season.

Behind five points from Rose Gwillim and four from Kaeli Flanagan the Bulldogs built a 14-6 led after one quarter.

Gwillim, Flanagan and Jayme Ramos each scored four points in the second period as Baker outscored La Grande 15-6 on the way to a 29-12 halftime lead.

La Grande never got closer than 14 points in the second half.

La Grande freshman Camryn Collman led all scorers with 14 points. But the Tigers managed just three other field goals from any other player in the game.

Gwillim topped Baker with 13 points. Ramos added 12 and Flanagan 10.

Baker is now idle until Saturday when the Bulldogs host Mac-Hi in another GOL contest.
