LA GRANDE — Baker had the lead at one point but the injury-plagued Bulldogs couldn’t hold it in a Greater Oregon League dual wrestling match Thursday at La Grande.
The Tigers prevailed 40-28.
“Came down to the wire,” Baker coach Brandon Young said.
After La Grande took an 18-0 lead, Baker battled back to lead 25-18.
Alex Duran avenged a loss earlier this year by winning by fall over Ezra McIntosh at 120 pounds.
Colton Anderson came from behind to beat Casey McCall in the final 15 seconds, and Nick Blair won by decision over Cole Isaacson.
Young then inserted Ian Feldmeier at 138 pounds and he won 5-0. Elijah Banister won by fall and Jorge Duran won by decision.
Clay Keller won 7-1 over Parker Robinson.
Baker lost by forfeit at 182 and 220 pounds, which gave La Grande a 34-28 lead.
In the final contested match, La Grande’s Grayson Livingston won by fall over Andrew Dunn to give the Tigers their final margin.
“We wrestled really well for not having all of our guys,” Young said. “Hopefully we can get healthy before regionals and make a run for the championship.”
