Baker, Pine-Eagle, Powder Valley and Burnt River boys and girls basketball teams will either begin or return to league play this weekend as the regular season resumes.

Baker heads to Burns

Baker's boys and girls squad travel to Burns to begin Greater Oregon League play Saturday. The Baker boys are 8-5 overall and Burns 2-10. The Baker girls enter the weekend 6-6 and Burns, the top-ranked Class 3A girls team in the state, 13-0.

Varsity girls action will begin at about 6:30 p.m., followed by the boys.

Pine-Eagle vs. Adrian, JV

Pine-Eagle returns to Old Oregon League play by traveling to Adrian Friday, then hosting Jordan Valley Saturday.

The Pine-Eagle girls enter the weekend 2-0 in the OOL and 11-0 overall. The Spartan boys are 0-2 in league play and 2-9 overall.

Girls varsity play begins at about 5 p.m. each evening, followed by the boys.

Powder hosts OOL pair

Powder Valley will stay at home both Friday and Saturday while hosting Joseph and Imbler in Old Oregon League play.

The Powder girls are 2-0 in league play and 7-2 overall. The Badger boys also are 2-0 in the OOL and 5-4 overall.

Girls varsity play begins at about 5 p.m. each evening, followed by the boys.

Burnt River back in action

Burnt River has been idle during Christmas break. The Bulls return to Tri-County League play this weekend.

Friday, Burnt River hosts Mitchell with the girls getting under way at 6:30 p.m. and the boys to follow.

Saturday, the Bulls travel to Spray. The girls game starts at 2 p.m., followed by the boys game.

Baker swimmers at home

The Baker High School swim team, idle since before the Christmas break, returns to the pool Saturday.

The Bulldogs host Pendleton, La Grande and Hermiston at noon in the Baker Invitational at Sam-O Swim Center.

The meet is Baker's final home meet of the season.

Baker, P-E, PV wrestlers

Baker and Pine-Eagle wrestling squads travel to Redmond Friday and Saturday to take part in the annual Oregon Classic at the Deschutes County Fairgrounds.

The Powder Valley squad is wrestling Saturday at a meet at Riverside High School in Boardman.
