I wouldn't want my kids there

To the editor:

I have worked in both Baker Middle School buildings and they are not the kind of place that I would want to send my children unless I absolutely had to.

My wife and I do not have children yet, but we both agree that we would rather send them to a new middle school.

Even if we decide not to have children at all, we still agree that a new middle school is a good decision for the community.

I have found that most arguments against a new middle school have nothing to do with the children.

Most arguments are about the history that they represent or the additional taxes that we would have to pay. How does that benefit the education of our children?

I believe that we should be thinking about the future of Baker City, and that lies in the hope that our children represent.

Why would we not want the absolute best for the children in our community? Why would we want to settle for second best, when we can do so much more for our children?
