DUFUR vs. PAISLEY: Rangers seeking second straight

Dufur successfully opened defense of its OSAA-U.S. Bank Class 1A state boys basketball championship Thursday.

The Rangers led from start to finish, burying Paisley 65-34 in the first round of championship action at Baker High School.

Dufur meets Jordan Valley in the championship semifinals Friday at 8:45 p.m. Paisley played Mohawk in the consolation semifinals Friday morning.

Ben Morris, Dufurs 6-foot-5 senior center, led the way in the first period, scoring six of his game-high 17 points. Dufur led 17-9 after one quarter.

Morris added five more points in the second period as the Rangers increased their lead to 30-17 at halftime.

In the third quarter, the Rangers shut down Paisleys offense. Dufur outscored the Broncos 21-5 in the period to put the game away. Lance Lindell scored eight of his 16 points in the period. Morris added six, and Nathan Morris had five.

Brandon Beachamp pitched in seven points, and Brian Wolf five in the fourth quarter as the Rangers cleared the bench.

Beachamp added 10 rebounds to lead the Rangers. Dufurs defense forced 28 Paisley turnovers.

Eric McClellan led Paisley with nine points and eight rebounds.
