Glad city scrapped garbage plan

To the editor:

At least one City Council member seems to be enlightened enough to have spoken out against mandating the citizens of Baker City to have garbage service. While having rental property in Baker City, of which garbage service is provided tenants, the idea that the city would even consider such a proposal is alarming.

While I read no data relating to the increase in business for the single service provider available, I can assume it would be a substantially profitable ordinance if passed. I'm sure many citizens had thoughts of a special interest proposal on this one.

Again, at least one council member realizes the solution to any substantiated problem with garbage within the city is to enforce the existing ordinances!
