Baker turned back Greater Oregon League rival La Grande in four games Thursday in the BHS gym.

The Bulldogs’ 25-20, 21-25, 25-20, 25-19 win also avenged their only league loss.

La Grande also beat Baker in the finals of the La Grande tournament in late September.

Baker improved to 4-1 in the GOL.

“It was a very good game tonight,” Baker Coach Marcy Hayes said. “The girls worked really hard and they played like a team tonight.”

Tara Talbott led Baker with 31-of-38 hitting and 22 digs.

Andrea Wilson was 17-for-17 serving.

Setters Savannah Daly (18 assists) and Whitney Phillips (17 assists) ran the offense well, Hayes said. Phillips added nine kills.

Annie Martin came off the bench to record three kills and two saves.

“We only had a few small mental mistakes,” Hayes said. “We were flying high in the jet plane rather than riding on the roller coaster like we have been known to do.”

Baker won the JV match 25-9, 25-20.

Kelsey Cole was 8-for-8 hitting, and Tori Brown 10-for-10 with six kills and three blocks. Mackenzie Srack was 8-for-9 hitting

Baker will be busy during Pep Week next week, playing host to Mac-Hi on Monday then traveling to La Grande on Thursday.
