Nine Baker swimmers head to state

MOLALLA — Nine Baker High School swimmers qualified for the Class 4A/3A/2A/1A state swim meet Thursday and Friday at Mount Hood Community College.

The Bulldogs qualified after placing in their events at the Special District 2 meet last weekend at Molalla. Final official district results were unavailable. District qualifiers were listed on the swimming section at www.osaa.org.

Charlotte Bowers qualified in two individual events and a relay. Bowers advanced in the 200 freestyle and 100 freestyle. She joined Annie Martin, Kim Countryman, Kim Pointer, Samantha Overton, Marissa Ermovick, Ellen Jampolsky and Courtney Petry on the 200 freestyle relay.

Martin also advanced for the second straight year in the 500 freestyle.

The lone Baker boy to advance was Jacob Sandefur in the 50 freestyle.

The two-day state meet will be held at the Mount Hood Aquatic Center, MHCC, 26000 SE Stark St., Gresham.

Competition begins at 5 p.m. Thursday and 4 p.m. Friday. Tickets go on sale at 3:30 p.m. Thursday and 2:30 p.m. Friday.

Tickets are $8 adults and $5 students for the preliminary round on Thursday. Tickets also are $8 adults and $5 students for Friday’s finals.
