Superintendent Don Ulrey is expected to announce his retirement when the Baker School Board meets Monday night. In a letter to the board dated Nov. 17 included in advance material prepared for Monday’s meeting, Ulrey said he plans to retire, effective April 29 “to spend more time with my wife, Roxy, and my family.” Ulrey’s resignation will be considered along with these personnel changes on Monday’s agenda:• Hiring Nicole Butler to fill a long-term temporary position as Brooklyn Primary first-grade teacher to replace Rebecca Anderson. Anderson is moving to South Baker Intermediate to fill the vacancy of Judy Trohkimoinen, who resigned earlier this month. Trohkimoinen will be honored during Monday’s meeting for her 20 years of service to the district. • Hiring BMS teacher Joel Richardson as Baker High School assistant boys basketball coach for 2009-10; Bryan Dalke, a Baker County Juvenile Court counselor as BMS intramural boys basketball coach for ’09-10. Dalke will fill the position previously held by Loran Joseph, who has resigned from the position. The board first will tour Baker Middle School during a work session beginning at 5:15 p.m. Monday. The Helen M. Stack Building has undergone extensive renovation over the summer and this fall to accommodate the district’s 245 middle school students. As part of budget reductions this spring, the board closed the Central School on the BMS campus and moved all classes and food services to the HMS building with the exception of the wood shop program. The regular board meeting will begin at 6 p.m. at the district office, 2090 Fourth St. |
