Glendora Mary Carpenter Ingraham Logsdon, 54, of Baker City, died May 17, 2011, at St. Alphonsus Medical Center-Baker City.

At her request, a private service will be scheduled later.

Glendora was born on May 3, 1957, at Baker City to Arlen and Naomi Patterson Carpenter. She attended Baker schools and was a 1975 Baker High School graduate.

Glendora was sealed to her parents and siblings in the Idaho Falls Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on April 19, 1975. She married Ed Ingraham in the Baker City LDS Church in 1975 and was a military wife for 13 years. She spent three years in Germany and obtained a German drivers license, which was very difficult to do, her family said.

Glendora also received many awards throughout the United States and received all of her awards in Girl Scouts.

She later married Jim Logsdon at Cripple Creek, Colo. She worked as a certified nursing assistant, a medical aid, a millworker and as a housewife. Her hobbies included crafts, dancing, guitar and singing, swimming and she served as a lifeguard. She also enjoyed fishing and camping.

She loved being a wife, mother and a grandmother. Glendora was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the Pleasant Valley Fellowship.

Survivors include her mother, Naomi Carpenter of Baker City; her children, Jessica Chappel of Mount Vernon, Tracy Samson of Irrigon and Levi Logsdon and Heidi Logsdon of Baker City; five grandchildren; a brother, Charles Carpenter of Baker City; sisters, Shona Profitt of Baker City, and Elizabeth Ann Sarmon of Meridian, Idaho; and aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father, her grandparents and numerous aunts and uncles.

Memorial contributions may be made to Naomi Carpenter through the Coles Tribute Center, 1950 Place St., Baker City, OR 97814.

‘Retha’ Reese

Aretha B. “Retha” Reese, 67, of Baker City, died Aug. 11, 2011, at her home.

Visitations will be from 2 p.m. to  6 p.m. Thursday at Gray’s West & Co. Pioneer Chapel, 1500 Dewey Ave. Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Gray’s West. Vault Interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery. Pastor Jesse Whitford of the Baker City Christian Church will officiate.

Retha was born on June 29, 1944, at Baker City to Eli Hue E. and Delphia Ophelia Harkness White. She was a 1963 Baker High School graduate and married Floyd W. Reese on April 6, 1968.

She worked in child care and as a housekeeper and was a wonderful homemaker. She always loved taking care of her family and giving them unconditional love, family members said.

She enjoyed gardening and her yard of flowers, and fishing and camping. Retha really loved cooking and dancing to country music and always enjoyed talking about the happenings of the past and present. She was an avid member of the Baker City Christian Church.

Survivors include a son, Jeffery Reese, and wife, Shannon, of Baker City; a daughter, Jodi DeCristo of Peoria, Ariz.; a grandson, Austin Reese, and a granddaughter, Audrey Reese, both of Baker City; siblings, Daisy Ashford and her husband, Herman, of Albany, Katherine Shurtleff of Oregon City, Ruben White and his wife, Janiece, of Prairie City, Ben White and his wife, Judy, of Spokane, Wash., Beulah Roberts of Baker City and Teddy White of Baker City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Wayne White; two sisters, Dorothy Petty and Rosie Miller; and a son-in-law, Chris DeCristo.
