Global warming not in real dispute To the editor: In a recent letter to the editor, Pete Sundin, who poo poos global warming theory, says he’s looking forward to a warmer climate such as Europe experienced in the Medieval Ages. He claims there are “thousands of scientists” who believe as he does.
That’s a lot of nay-saying scientists. But Sundin omitted pointing out that they make up just 2 percent of the scientific community. I prefer to listen to the 98 percent of scientists who believe that human activity, starting with the Industrial Revolution, has polluted the atmosphere with an ever higher concentration of heat-trapping carbon dioxide such that, if not addressed immediately, threatens human existence on Earth. Medieval thinking just doesn’t cut it. Gary Dielman Baker City |
