Teena Simonis
Teena Simonis, 75, died Oct. 8, 2011, in Baker City after a full and wonderful life.
Per Teena’s request, there will be no services at this time.
Gray’s West & Company Pioneer Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Teena was born May 13, 1936, in Neligh, Neb., to Robert and Ethel (Zahnow) Neligh. Shortly after her birth, the family moved out of the town that her grandfather founded, and moved to Oregon.
Teena attended school in Portland, where she met and married Robert Spurlock. They had two children: Mark Spurlock and Robin (Spurlock) Wiegel.
That marriage ended and then Teena met the love of her live, Robert Simonis. They married on March 26, 1965, and soon after had a son, Floyd Simonis Jr. They spent the next 46 years enjoying their life and family.
Teena loved to play cards, working in the yard, drinking coffee and chatting with her friends. 
Teena is survived by her husband, Floyd; her children: Mark, Robin and Floyd Jr.; seven grandchildren; her brother, Tom; her sister, Betty; numerous nieces and nephews and the friends she held dear. 
She will be greatly missed.

Gilbert Jones
Gilbert Jones, 90, of Baker City died Oct. 13, 2011, at his home.
A memorial service will be Monday, Oct. 17 at 11 a.m. at Coles Tribute Center, 1950 Place St. in Baker City.
Gilbert was born May 19, 1921, at Durkee to Alfred N. and Ollie B. (Richie) Jones. Gilbert graduated from Baker High School in 1939 and then spent five years in the Navy. He was honorably discharged as a Seaman 1st Class.
Gilbert married M. Dean Allen on Nov. 4, 1950, in Winnemucca Nev. Together they had three children: Keith, Alan, and Nancy.
Gilbert worked for the Baker City Post Office and retired in 1975 after 35 years. He was affiliated with the V.F.W. & Woodsmen of the World. He was also the President of the Powder River Sportsman Club, area director of Oregon Wildlife Foundation, hunter safety instructor, a World War II and Korean War veteran and an atomic vet.
Gilbert enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He loved family outings and activities as well.
Gilbert was preceded in death by his wife, Dean Jones; his parents, Alfred and Ollie Jones; two brothers and one sister.
Gilbert is survived by his sons: Keith Jones and his wife, Suzan, of Bridgeport; and Alan Jones and his wife, Ethel, of Baker City; his daughter, Nancy Williams and her husband, Paul, of Baker City; his sister, Esther Staats of Medford; lifelong friends, Mable Lee and Roy Conley of Baker City; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
