Pine-Eagle improved its season record to 5-1 with a pair of non-league girls basketball wins last week.

The Spartans defeated Nixyaawii 54-37 Tuesday, then easily topped Huntington 64-15 Saturday. Both games were at Halfway.

Against Nixyaawii, Bri Thatcher led the Spartans with 20 points, and Chelsie Gulick added 14.

“We had a couple of starters under the weather, but the rest of the team stepped up and played well,” said Pine-Eagle coach Roger Gulick.

Against Huntington, Gulick played every available Spartan.

“We played everybody,” he said. “We didn’t press, didn’t get after them.

“Everybody had a good time, and had some fun,” Gulick said.

Chelsie Gulick and Bri Thatcher each scored 10 points in limited action to lead Pine-Eagle.

The Spartans travel to Nixyaawii Tuesday and play Tri-Valley at Cambridge, Idaho, Friday.
