DUFUR — Powder Valley opened its volleyball season by dividing a pair of non-league matches with Dufur and Weston-McEwen. The Badgers defeated Dufur 25-13, 25-15, 16-25, 25-23. Ali Abrego opened the match by serving 13 straight points. She finished the match 24-of-26 serving, with 16 kills, eight digs and a stuff block. Jessica Pedro added 26 kills, 10 digs, three stuff blocks and was 8-of-9 serving. Alexandra Colton was 14-of-17 serving and had 24 assists. McKinsey Hampton was 10-for-10 serving and had four kills and five digs. Powder Valley lost 22-25, 25-18, 26-24, 25-18 to Weston-McEwen. “We were playing in a very hot gym after just finishing a competitive match with Dufur and the girls were fatigued,” said Powder coach Lasa Baxter. “We finished the final game with Weston at 10:15 p.m. The girls were tired and overall, did not make the adjustments necessary for the comeback. We made several costly serving mistakes offering a total of 16 free points up to our opponents in missed serves,” Baxter said. Pedro was 7-of-11 serving with 14 kills, seven digs and two stuff blocks. Abrego was 7-of-9 serving with 14 kills, four digs and a stuff block. Hampton was 12-of-14 serving with a kill. Bailee Allen was 18-of-19 serving with five digs. Jenna Aldrich was 4-for4 serving with seven digs. |
