Baker opened Greater Oregon League volleyball play at Mac-Hi Tuesday by handing the Pioneers a 25-19, 25-10, 25-15 defeat.

“We played well,” said Baker coach Michele McCauley.

The Bulldogs served 93 percent as a team.

Monica Voboril led the Bulldogs in most statistical categories. Voboril was 23-for-23 hitting with 10 kills. She was 10-of-11 serving and added 17 digs.

“Monica was really consistent tonight,” McCauley said.

Michelle Birkmaier was 11-for-11 serving with five kills and 15 digs.

Michelle Freese was 9-for-10 serving and 16-for-17 hitting with five kills.

Abi Smith was 12-for-13 serving with two ace serves.

Taylor McAdams was 18-for-20 hitting with four kills.

“We had to work hard,” McCauley said. “Milton-Freewater is a much better team than in the past. They did a good job digging against us.”

Baker (1-0 in GOL play) is now idle until hosting Fruitland in a non-league match Tuesday.
