Baker still can’t seem to put back-to-back good basketball games together.

The Bulldogs, a night after defeating La Grande, came up short 54-44 at Weiser Saturday.

“We have to figure out this Friday-Saturday thing,” said Baker coach Joel Richardson.

“We’ve got to be able to go back-to-back nights. We’re still trying to find that consistency. We have to do a better job of attacking; being more disciplined.”

Baker led 15-11 after one quarter, but was outscored 15-5 in the second period to trail 26-20 at halftime.

“Weiser shot th eball really well,” Richardson said.

“We scrapped and battled, but we had some unforced errors that hurt us. We can’t afford to have lulls like that.”

Baker played better in the third quarter. But so did Weiser.

The Wolverines outscored Baker 19-16 to build their lead to 45-36.

“I think Weiser only missed one shot in the third quarter,” Richardson said.

“They made some tough two’s.”

Dillon Blankenship led Baker with 14 points and six rebounds. Mason Cline added 12 points and six boards.

Braden Phillips and Dane Bachman each added six rebounds as Baker won the board battle 31-22.

Baker will be busy this week, with three games, all at home.

The Bulldogs host Imbler Tuesday, Mac-Hi Friday and Vale Saturday.

“We’ll get to work on that back-to-back again this week,” Richardson said.
