Imbler used a solid fourth quarter to hold off Pine-Eagle 37-26 in the District 7-1A girls basketball championship game Saturday at Baker High School.

Leading just 26-22 entering the final eight minutes, Imbler scored the first six points of the quarter — four by Emma Bowers — to build its lead to 32-22 with 3:54 left in the game.

Four points by Jacey Teeter helped the Panthers open the game with a 5-0 lead.

Imbler went on to lead 10-4 at the break.

Imbler increased its lead to as may as nine points in the second period before Pine-Eagle battled back.

A three-point basket by Bri Thatcher, and two-pointers by Lena Carr and Thatcher cut Imbler’s lead to 21-17 at halftime.

Imbler then scored the first five points in the second half to build the cushion back to 26-17.

The Panthers then went scoreless the rest of the period. Meanwhile, baskets by Bri and Maddi Thatcher, and a Carr free throw, pulled Pine-Eagle back to within 26-22 at the break.

Bowers led Imbler with 10 points.

Maddi Thatcher topped Pine-Eagle with 10.

Imbler gets a bye this week until  the second round of the Class 1A state playoffs. Pine-Eagle tentatively hosts Echo Wednesday in the first round of the playoffs.
