"Ghost Mine," the TV series made near Sumpter that aired this winter on Syfy channel, will return for a second season.

The second season, with 12 new hour-long episodes, will debut in September, according to a press release from Syfy.

"Ghost Mine" follows the exploits of a group of miners working in an underground mine, called the Crescent, that's part of the Buckeye Mine group high in the Elkhorn Mountains about eight miles north of Sumpter.

The miners are joined by a pair of paranormal investigators who try to help the miners figure out the cause of various phenomenon, including noises and apparitions inside the mine.

The first season, which included six one-hour episodes, also included visits to the Sumpter dredge and other sites in and around Sumpter.
