Baker shot a two-day score of 704 to top La Grande by four strokes Tuesday and claimed the Greater Oregon League district boys golf championship at Meadow Lakes Golf Club in Prineville.

Baker coach Mike Long said the GOL title is Baker’s first in boys golf.

Baker added some extra spice to the final day when Brandon Ellwanger tied La Grande’s Daniel Seymour for medalist honors during regulation play.

The pair then faced off in a two-hole playoff. Both parred the first hole. Seymour then parred the second hole while Ellwanger shot a bogey to finish second.

Ellwanger led Baker with a score of 164.

Other Baker scores were Charlie Clarke 172 (fifth), Micah Grammon 183 (ninth), Riley Carter 185 (11th), and Evan Simonski-Davis 199 (23rd).

Following Baker and La Grande in the team race were Ridgeview (725), Crook County (749), Mac-Hi (754) and Ontario (829).

Baker and La Grande now advance to the Class 4A state tournament May 13-14 at Emerald Valley Golf and Resort in Creswell.
