‘Terrie’ Grant

Medford, 1948-2013

Teresa Jodelle “Terrie” Grant, 64 of Medford, died May 15, 2013, at her home after an extended illness.

Her funeral was at 1 p.m. Thursday at Medford.

Terrie was born on Dec. 11, 1948, at Baker City to Joseph and Doris Staedler. She was with the Baker High School graduating class of 1967 and went on to become a hairdresser after receiving her certification from Pendleton College of Beauty in 1968.

She married Michael Maxwell from Baker and they had two children: Michael ‘Eric’ born in 1970 and Tammie, born in 1972.  They later divorced.

Terrie was the oldest of three siblings, which included her sister, Vicki, and brother, Skip. Throughout her life she was a very protective, loving and giving big sister.

She moved to Medford in 1986 to help her father, who was ill at the time. She married Charles “Chuck” Grants Jr. of Medford on Feb. 20, 1991.

Working from the time she was a teenager until she was limited by declining physical health, she was a hairdresser for 25 years and later worked as a market manager for Minute Market at Medford for many years.

Her interests included cooking, gardening, camping, having her pets with her and spending time with her family and friends. She especially was in love with her granddaughters, Skylar and Jamie.

They brought great joy to her heart, as did her sister’s grandchildren, Hunter, Kyley, Alex and Kyana Chaves; and great-niece and great-nephew, Trinity and Christian Staedler. She was a wonderful and loving grandmother to them all, family members said.

Although she was actually their great-aunt, they all called her “Grandma Terrie.”

Terrie was a truly special soul with a strong faith in the Lord, which she would share openly. She was blessed with an exceptionally giving and compassionate heart, opening her heart to help anyone she came in contact with.

She was “always there” for her family and friends. Her home was a perpetual revolving door for those she cared about and wanted to help.  When you were in Terrie’s home you knew you could be yourself and feel at home.  She will be so very missed and lovingly remembered, family members said.

Survivors include her husband, Chuck Grant; son, Eric Maxwell of Shasta, Calif.; daughter and son-in-law, Tammie and Jeff Andrews of Rogue River; stepdaughter, Mystie Haley of Pocatello, Idaho; sister and brother-in-law, Vicki and Steve Scrivner of Grants Pass; brother, Skip Staedler of Buffalo, Mo.; granddaughters, Skylar and Jamie Andrews, ages 11 and 10; nephews, Ryan Chaves of Baker City and Michael Staedler of Medford; nieces, Jolene and Jodi Staedler of Buffalo, Mo.; and many close cousins, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by parents, Joe and Doris Staedler; and nephews, Benjamin and Todd Chaves.
