Tickets are still available for the Baker County YMCA's “Facility Preview Celebration” on Saturday, June 29. This will be the community’s first chance to tour the new facility at 3715 Pocahontas Road (formerly occupied by Wilson’s Market).

The evening begins at 6 p.m. with a social hour and tour, followed by dinner at 7 p.m. and a live auction at 7:45 p.m.

The meal features Eastern Oregon fare — locally grown lamb, beef tri-tip, pork loin, potatoes and asparagus.

Tickets are $30 and available at the YMCA Fitness Center, 2021 Main St., Sam-O Swim Center, 580 Baker St., or by calling 541-523-7747.

Money raised during this event will help buy equipment for the Y’s youth programs — preschool, day camps and sports — as well as the fitness center and pool.

Although the Y has received $400,000 in grants, that money is for the capital project, not equipment, said CEO Heidi Dalton.

As for the fundraising portion of Saturday's event, those who wish to donate have the option of choosing a level — such as $50, $100, etc. — which translate into buying something specific for the Y, such as yoga mats or dumbbells. Each level also comes with a perk for the donor, such as personal training sessions, a birthday party at the pool, private Zumba party, etc.

As for the live auction,  people will bid on experiences rather than items (such as a trip, wine party and helicopter ride) as well as key items in the facility, such as lanes of the track.

Construction of the new building is scheduled to be complete in late July.
