Priscilla Hedgpeth

Baker City, 1941-2013

Priscilla K. Hedgpeth, 72, of Baker City, died Nov. 27, 2013.

Her memorial will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 975 S. Bridge St.

She was born on Feb. 7, 1941, at Medford to Francis and Essie May Poole. She was the youngest of seven children. She grew up at Butte Falls except for a few years the family spent in San Francisco. She attended school at Butte Falls and graduated in 1959 as class valedictorian.

Priscilla got a job with the Forest Service shortly after high school. It was while working there that she met her husband, Glenn. They were married in November of 1969 at Reno, Nev. Their daughter, Jennifer, was born about a year later. In May of 1977, she and Glenn moved to Baker City where they had lived ever since.

Their son, Matthew, was born in 1980. In addition to raising her own children, Priscilla helped raise her niece, Kathy.

Priscilla was known for her generosity and love for family. Many family members, including numerous nieces and nephews have wonderful memories of spending summers or long visits at “Aunt Cilla’s”.

Priscilla also had a deep faith in the Bible. She was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on April 16, 1960, at Klamath Falls along with her mother and sister, Norma. She was comforted by the Bible’s promises and enjoyed sharing that comfort with others, family members said.

She also enjoyed doing the daily crossword puzzle in pen. She loved animals and had many horses, cats, and dogs in her life and enjoyed feeding the deer that wandered on her property.

She was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers and sisters.

Survivors include her husband, Glenn, of Baker City; her sister, Norma, of Altona, Manitoba; her son, Matthew of Baker City; her daughter, Jennifer, of Hermiston; her niece, Kathy Doane of Sheridan; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Baker City Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses through Coles Tribute Center, 1950 Place St., Baker City, OR 97814.
