Nyssa rallied in the second half  Thursday to hand Baker a 29-19 nonleague girls basketball loss at Baker High School.

Baker (1-7) led 11-8 at halftime, but was outscored 21-8 in the second half.

“What frustrated me most tonight was our inability to match Nyssa’s tenacity,” said Baker coach Jenny Mowe-Joseph.

“We couldn’t handle the ball. When you try to dribble through people, or pass through people and they have a hand on the ball you’re not going to get it done.”

Nyssa (9-2) led 5-2 after one quarter in the low-scoring affair.

Then, trailing 7-2 early in the second period, Baker ran off nine unanswered points to take a 11-8 lead at halftime.

Brie Sand led the Bulldogs with four points. Allie Brown added three and Summer Phillips two.

A basket by Whitney Lemmon to star the third quarter boosted Baker’s lead to 13-8. But then the Bulldogs went cold.

Nyssa outscored Baker 21-6 the rest of the game.

Brown led Baker with six points. Phillips grabbed 10 rebounds.

Baker is scheduled to host Pendleton this evening, weather permitting.
