Baker left no doubt who would advance to the second round of the Greater Oregon League district playoffs Tuesday.

The Bulldogs scored the first 15 points of the game and went on to roll past Mac-Hi 59-34. The win sends Baker to Ontario tonight at 6:30 p.m. PST. The winner of tonight's game is guaranteed at least a berth in the Class 4A play-in round and a Saturday contest at La Grande.

“It was a great team win,” said Baker coach Joel Richardson.

Baker dominated the inside where Kyle Srack and Mason Cline combined for 23 points and 22 rebounds.

Logan Sand balanced the inside game with 17 points, mostly from the outside, to lead the Bulldogs.

All but one Baker player who entered the game scored.

“Kyle had a great game inside for us,” Richardson said.

“And Mason also had a strong game. It was a great pair of double-doubles.”

Brandon Stairs, Taylor Gulick and Clay LeaMaster led a solid effort off the Baker bench as well.

“Brandon and Taylor gave us a lot of energy off the bench,” Richardson said. “And Clay came in and gave us good minutes behind Kyle and Mason.

“I thought the bench played really well for us. Having the added depth this time of year is a luxury for us,” Richardson said.

Sand scored seven points in the opening period to lead Baker to its 15-0 lead.

Mac-Hi didn’t score until hitting a basket with 21 seconds left in the quarter.

Baker led 17-2 at the break before Mac-Hi trimmed the deficit to 20-10 midway through the second quarter.

The Bulldogs then went on a 7-0 run to push the margin back to 27-10.

Baker led 27-13 at halftime.

Srack then scored 10 of his points in the third quarter as Baker outscored the Pioneers 17-8, building their lead to 44-21.

Richardson then cleared the bench in the fourth quarter.
