Damascus Christian girls win semifinal

Defending Class 1A state girls basketball champion Damascus Christian made a successful return to Saturday’s title game after stopping Triangle Lake 62-38 in Friday’s semifinal round at Baker High School.

Damascus Christian will meet Condon/Wheeler in a rematch of last year’s championship game.

Ana Wakefield led the way with a new tournament record of eighth three-point baskets. Wakefield finished with 30 points.

Hannah Forrar added 15 points and 13 rebounds, and Val Wakefield 11 points.

Triangle Lake was led by Kiana Brown with 25 points and nine rebounds.

Damascus Christian scored 21 points off of 22 Triangle Lake turnovers.

Triangle Lake managed just two points off seven Damascus Christian turnovers.

Damascus Christian jumped out to a 23-4 lead after one quarter and never looked back.
