Condon/Wheeler got a measure of revenge Saturday by defeating Damascus Christian 57-52 in the Class 1A state girls basketball championship game at Baker High School.

The win by the top-ranked and undefeated Knights (30-0) avenged a two-point loss to Damascus Christian a year ago.

Ellie Logan, who finished with 22 points, hit a go-ahead jumper with 5:33 left in the game to give the Knights a 45-43 lead. They never trailed after that.

That basket also competed a secnd-half rally that saw Condon/Wheeler come from being down 38-21 at halftime.

Damascus Christian’s Hannah Forrar scored 18 of her 23 points in the first half to help build that lead.

The championship was the first for the combined team of Condon and Wheeler. Coach Teresa Humphreys had led Condon to five state championships in the early 2000s.
