The community is invited to help a decorated World War II veteran celebrate his 100th birthday this month at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall.

The Vets Club is hosting the party for Leslie V. Davis, who was born on June 20, 1916, said Kevin Churchill, the VFW’s quartermaster. The celebration will start at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, June 20, at the club at 2005 Valley Ave.

U.S. Rep. Greg Walden will be on hand to present Davis with an American flag that has been flown over the Capitol Building in Washington, D.C.

Churchill said Leslie Davis’ brother, Wayne Davis of Redding, California, called to ask the veterans organization to help put together a party to honor his brother, who has no family living in Baker City.
